Blue Cross Blue Shield has named John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital as one of seven Arizona hospitals to meet the criteria of a Blue Distinction Center for Knee and Hip Replacement in May.
This designation helps consumers find excellent specialty care on a consistent basis. Blue Distinction hospitals demonstrate better overall outcomes including fewer medical complications in the delivery of specialty care.
The hospital, in its 50-page application, showed that its orthopedic care met or exceeded rigorous, evidence-based, objective selection criteria based on expert national physicians' and medical organizations' recommendations. Only 540 Knee and Hip Replacement Centers have been designated in the country.
"From design to opening to patient care every day, we have worked toward becoming a Center of Excellence in hip and knee replacement," said Susan Hoffmeister, RN, BSN, clinical director of orthopedics at John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital. "We want to show our community and our patients that we have dedicated ourselves to the highest quality of care, from surgeons and nurses to pain control and therapy and beyond."
