New Construction, Renovations Bring Advanced Technologies to Both John C. Lincoln Hospitals

Both campuses of John C. Lincoln Hospitals are abuzz with an impressive array of construction projects and renovations to make room for top-quality technologies and medical capabilities.

Deer Valley Hospital will soon have a new generation of imaging technologies, while North Mountain Hospital was recently equipped with the latest in robotic surgery tools. Both hospitals will have new medical office buildings. Here's an update for each facility.

Medical Imaging and Orthopedics Grow at Deer Valley Hospital

Deer Valley Hospital Medical Office Building
In 2009, John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital will open a new medical office building on its campus, as well as a new Orthopedic Unit on the fourth floor of the hospital's Pavilion 2.

At Deer Valley Hospital's Medical Imaging Department, a new Special Procedures Lab will be completed in early 2009. Outfitted with ultra-precise, state-of-the-art imaging technologies and an innovative design, the lab will showcase Siemens Axiom Artis dTA flat detector technology — an invaluable tool for procedures that require precise imaging.

As a "show site" for equipment supplier Siemens, hosting tours for medical imaging specialists from around the region and nation, the lab will offer 3-D rotational arterial imaging for diagnosing aneurysms and placing stents. In addition, a 32-slice Toshiba CT scanner was installed in July 2008.

The fourth floor of the hospital's Pavilion 2 will become a 30-bed Orthopedic Unit in early 2009. The unit's design will incorporate lighting, care and comfort amenities pioneered by the Intensive Care Unit and Progressive Coronary Care Unit on floors two and three, plus some improvements. A physical therapy area will be staffed next to the Orthopedic Unit.

North Mountain Hospital Lab, Pharmacy to Expand

North Mountain Hospital is no less busy. In the hospital's Lab, renovations will be made to accommodate a growing volume of services. Among the renovations, Microbiology will expand by almost 50 percent.

Pharmacy space will more than triple, allowing all inventory to be stored in one location. A new U.S. Pharmacopeia-compliant clean room will be built to expand the range of pharmacy services available to hospital patients.

While 14 private patient care rooms on the Surgical Telemetry Unit on the fourth floor opened in March 2008, additional renovation will turn the west wing of the fifth floor into 14 additional all-private rooms for telemetry patients this fall.

Robot-Assisted Surgery Debuts at North Mountain

Also in the works for this year are upgrades of operating rooms on North Mountain's first and second floors to accommodate the da Vinci robotic surgical system.

The da Vinci Surgical System recently made its debut at North Mountain Hospital. A state-of-the-art surgical platform, da Vinci allows surgeons to use minimally invasive approaches for complex procedures. Thanks to the microscopic precision that da Vinci affords, patients typically experience a shorter hospital stay, less pain, less scarring and a quicker return to normal daily activities.

Deer Valley Medical Office Building to Open in Spring 2009

The $16 million, 75,000-square-foot Deer Valley Medical Office Building III, owned and developed by Ensemble Real Estate, is scheduled for completion in spring 2009.

Adjacent to Deer Valley Medical Office Building II, the four-story facility will have a 540-space, multi-story parking structure and will feature:

  • An additional endoscopy suite with two procedure rooms, plus four pre-op and four Post-Anesthesia Care Unit rooms to provide outpatient services in a convenient location for patients.
  • North Valley Gastroenterology, a three-physician group providing gastroenterology consults, follow-ups and other GI services in five patient exam rooms adjacent to the Endoscopy suite.

NMIMS Medical Office Building at North Mountain Hospital

Spanning four stories, North Mountain's new medical office building is owned and developed by physician partnership North Mountain Integrated Medical Services. Under construction east of the hospital, NMIMS is scheduled to open in early 2009.

NMIMS will lease several suites to John C. Lincoln, including:

  • Diagnostic Imaging: Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging will move into a suite with dedicated parking and easy patient access. State-of-the-art digital technology will provide maximum quality.
  • Reconstructive Plastic Surgery Center: A new surgical specialty center on the medical office building's first floor will provide reconstructive plastic surgery for trauma patients in addition to limb salvage, mandibular reconstruction, cancer resections, breast reconstruction, endoscopic condylar repair and state-of-the-art microvascular surgery.
