Thanks to a generous $150,000 grant from our Buddy Check 12 partner, the Phoenix Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®, women in our service area now have extra help accessing breast cancer screening, diagnostic services, treatment and education.
Paulla Miller, who has been active as vice president of the Young Survival Coalition in Arizona, is now the community outreach and patient resource coordinator for John C. Lincoln's Breast Health and Research Center, a position funded by the grant.
Reaching Out to Help
Paulla will work with individuals and groups throughout northern Maricopa and Southern Yavapai Counties to increase awareness of the importance of early detection, as well as how and where to get screening mammograms. More importantly, her job is to help uninsured and underinsured women find financial assistance if they can't afford the screening, diagnostic or treatment they need.
She'll also coordinate the 16 support groups and other psycho-social services offered free for women at the Breast Health and Research Center, so they never have to stand alone while making the journey from cancer diagnosis back to health.
