The seminars are open to all people whose lives have been touched by cancer. Single participants as well as family members are encouraged to attend.

Because a breast cancer diagnosis affects the entire family, the free seminars are designed to help breast cancer survivors, their children and their spouses learn valuable communication strategies and coping skills.

Seminar participants do not have to have children to attend. The seminars include:

  • Support for Breast Cancer Survivors: Facilitated by Mikala Edwards, Community Educator, Arizona Young Breast Cancer Survivor Support Initiative. Participants will receive a Survivor Resource Guide Tool and informational book.
  • Coping Skills for Children (ages 5 through 12): Facilitated by Danielle Manrique, Certified Child Life Specialist, John C. Lincoln Children's Emergency Center, Mendy's Place. Children will receive a kids tee shirt and a Children's Coping Kit with information, games and toys to help deal with their parent's diagnosis.
  • Help for Husbands and Caregivers: Facilitated by Marc Heyison, Founder and CEO, Men against Breast Cancer. Participants will receive a Men's Coping Kit and informational book.

The three groups will come together for closing ceremonies that will include a balloon release to commemorate breast cancer survivors and those who have passed away.

The event is co-sponsored by John C. Lincoln, the Arizona Young Breast Cancer Survivor Support Initiative and Men Against Breast Cancer.
