More than $210,000 was raised in support of under-resourced families, children and seniors when 240 golfers teed off Sept. 21 for the 25th annual Lincoln Guild Invitational golf tournament. Held at the Wildfire Golf Club, it was hosted by John C. Lincoln Health Foundation's Guild, a group of community ambassadors and business leaders who philanthropically support the John C. Lincoln Health Network.
Support from golfers and sponsors will benefit John C. Lincoln's Desert Mission community programs, including a food bank, children's dental clinic, and community health center. Many generous donors supported this year's event; presenting sponsors included Arizona Oncology, Ensemble DevMan of Arizona and W.D. Manor Mechanical Contractors.
"Past tournament chairs stepped up this year to commemorate our 25th anniversary and raise money for Desert Mission to continue its quest to address the physical and social needs of families and children in North Phoenix. We always have a lot of fun at this tournament, and it is great to know that we are helping change lives," says 2011 Guild Invitational co-chair Jim Fishman, MD.
Desert Mission is the social services arm of the not-for-profit John C. Lincoln Health Network. Other Desert Mission programs include a nationally accredited child care facility, preschool and kindergarten, and a behavioral health center, which serves families in crisis by providing resource referrals, counseling and case management.
"Desert Mission is an active partner with other local programs and has provided a safety net for the most vulnerable members of our community for more than 80 years," says Cindy Hallman, Vice President and Executive Director of Desert Mission.
