Non-Patient Positions

If you would like to volunteer in a role that does not require direct interaction with patients, the following non-patient volunteer opportunities may be a good fit for you. If a position listed below matches your interests, we invite you to complete our volunteer application form.

Opportunities at Deer Valley Hospital

  • Clerical: Answering phones, copying, assembling packets, filing, data entry, and assisting with projects — all the activities that keep a hospital network functioning. Typing and word processing skills helpful but not required. Attention to detail needed. Serve in any of the following departments: Administration, Cardiac Rehab, Human Resources, Laboratory, Medical Records, Medical Staff Services, Nursing Administration, Deer Valley Family Practice or Volunteer Services.
  • Volunteer Office: Assist with clerical, phones, data entry, word processing, organization and communication needs. Something different every day.
  • Materials Management/Mail Delivery/Copy Center: The supply center of the hospital. Assist with stocking, inventory, copying, sorting mail, and delivering mail and supplies to hospital departments.
  • Recovery: Provide support to recovery room staff by assembling patient education packets, assisting with clerical duties, stocking and departmental errands. Position requires a caring, compassionate person who is sensitive to the needs of others.
  • Pharmacy: Assist with unpacking stock items, labeling shelves, filing, inventory, deliveries throughout the hospital and updating reference information.
  • Gift Shop: Serve as sales clerk responsible for assisting family, visitors, employees and residents with gift shop purchases. Includes the operation of a cash register. Volunteers help to unpack new merchandise in the stock area.

Opportunities at North Mountain Hospital

  • Children's Health Services: Provide clerical support.
  • Marley House: Perform various clerical/support duties. Assist with sorting donations.
  • Clerical Support: Opportunities available in many different departments. On-going placements fluctuate; however, the Auxiliary's Clerical Pool frequently needs more volunteers to assist on an as-needed basis. Skills needed range from filing and answering phones to stuffing and labeling envelopes, etc.
  • Central Service: Perform routine and repetitious duties to facilitate efficient operations of the materials and supply systems.
  • Mail/Memo: Pick up and deliver interoffice mail. Stamina for walking and pushing mail cart for 4 hours is needed.
  • Pharmacy: Assist staff with restocking and clerical support duties.
  • Gift Shop: Serve as sales clerk responsible for assisting family, visitors, employees and residents with gift shop purchases. Includes the operation of a cash register. Volunteers help to unpack new merchandise in the stock area.
