The Health Insurance Marketplace

Effective October 1, 2013, you can apply for health insurance coverage or enroll in the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) through the Health Insurance Marketplace at HealthCare.gov. Health coverage starts as early as January 1, 2014, and open enrollment ends March 31, 2014. Many of the rules have changed. Adults without children and patients with pre-existing conditions now have more options.

Through the Marketplace, you can apply, compare all your options, and find out if you can get lower costs on monthly premiums or get free or low-cost coverage. When you're ready to enroll, you'll decide how you pay your premiums or get help signing up for AHCCCS or KidsCare — Arizona's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) — if you're eligible.

John C. Lincoln Health Network is here to help you by phone or in person. If you have questions, please call us at 602-870-6060 Ext. 6313, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to make an appointment for assistance. Evening appointments are available.

How the Marketplace Works

Step 1: Create an account

Provide some basic information. Then choose a user name, password and security questions for added protection.

Step 2: Apply

Starting October 1, 2013, you'll enter information about you and your family, including your income, household size and more. Use this checklist (PDF; requires free Adobe Reader software) to help you gather the information you'll need.

Step 3: Pick a plan

Next you'll see all the plans and program you're eligible for and compare them side-by-side. You'll also find out if you can get lower costs on monthly premiums and out-of-pocket costs.

Step 4: Enroll

Choose a plan that meets your needs and enroll. Coverage starts as soon as January 1, 2014.
