As an affiliate of John C. Lincoln Health Network, Desert Mission Neighborhood Renewal (DMNR) is a community development corporation that facilitates the development of housing, neighborhoods and businesses in the geographical areas served by the Desert Mission.
Since our inception, Desert Mission Neighborhood Renewal (DMNR) has partnered with state, city and private entities to identify the housing and infrastructure needs of the communities we serve. The core programs offered by the DMNR include housing counseling, owner-occupied home rehabilitation, infill affordable housing, and commercial development and redevelopment. We work in synergy with other Desert Mission programs.
Housing Development
DMNR has built 48 homes sold to first-time homebuyers with incomes below 80 percent of the median. One area has experienced an increase of 39 percent in the number of owner-occupied units, creating more community stakeholders. DMNR recently completed the sales of its latest affordable housing development consisting of 12 units of condominiums at 13th and Vogel avenues. DMNR also holds property for future development that will provide enough land for approximately 80 residential units.
Housing Counseling
Counselors provide one-on-one counseling to help families become educated consumers, who can determine whether and when homeownership is right for them. We also seek to help clients address financial and other barriers to homeownership such as credit, saving, budgeting, employment and establishing alternative forms of credit. All counselors are nationally trained and certified by NeighborWorks Center for Homeownership Education and Counseling (NCHEC). Desert Mission Neighborhood Renewal is an approved HUD counseling agency. Call 602-331-5833 for more information, or visit HUD.gov.
Homebuyer Education
Become an informed consumer before making the largest purchase of your life. The Homebuyer Education class is HUD/FHA-approved and covers the home-buying process from A to Z in eight hours. This course helps families prepare for the purchase of a home. Monthly classes are scheduled at two different locations.
