Virtual Volunteer Opportunities
The following is a list of our virtual volunteer opportunities for prospective volunteers who would like to contribute their time and talents but are unable to come to one of the hospital campuses on a regular basis. If a position listed below matches your interests, we invite you to complete our interest form.
Handcrafted Items
Bring comfort to patients by creating a blanket, shawl or booties. Many patients feel chilly in the hospital. A handcrafted item provides warmth and a personal touch and is cozier than a hospital blanket. Bright colors and beautiful designs can add cheer to the hospital room. All handcrafted items must be made from new materials and have never been used.
Stuffed animals and puppets can help a scared child feel less scared in Mendy's Place, our children's emergency center; or KidsZone, our inpatient pediatric area. It can provide comfort and a distraction. Please do not include sew-on eyes or other items. Drawn-on faces are best.
Donations of yarn, material and batting are also a great way to contribute. We will give it to other virtual volunteers who will make it into loving items.
PC Activities
Utilize your computer skills in the comfort of your own home to assist with various projects, including bulletins, flyers, greeting cards, newsletters or Web searches.
Collection Drives
Make a difference in the lives of our patients by collecting items and donating them to the hospital. We often need:
- new or used books
- magazines
- books on tape
- cassette players
- puzzle books
- playing cards
- card games
- games
- new, unused personal hygiene sample sizes
- reading glasses
- toys
- stuffed animals
- children's books
