The John C. Lincoln Center for Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery serves as a leading center for surgical treatment of severe disfigurements resulting from traumatic injury, prior surgery (such as mastectomy) and congenital deformity.
Our reconstructive surgeons are devoted to providing highly individualized patient care and using the newest technologies.
Collectively, our surgeons can perform virtually any kind of reconstructive surgery for patients, to repair:
- Severe craniofacial (facial structure) disfigurements, abnormalities and functional impairments.
- Lower limb damage, where function is impaired.
- Disfigurement resulting from cancer surgery, including mastectomy and radical head and neck procedures.
- Traumatic injuries to the jaw, including fractures of the condyle (the curved bone at the back tip of the jaw).
Specialized in Complex Reconstructive Surgery Procedures
Dozens of high-tech procedures will be available at our new Center for Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery.
One of these is endoscopic repair of the condyle. Guided by an endoscope—a tubular device with a miniaturized camera attached—surgeons carefully slide a surgical instrument between the jawbone and extremely delicate facial nerves to maneuver a broken jaw back into place. Equally sophisticated and difficult to perform, this procedure realigns the jaw, reducing the likelihood of TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder) or an abnormal bite after the jaw heals.
