Family and Companion Participation
Family members or companions are encouraged to wait in the surgical waiting area. Usually, the surgeon will meet with family members in the waiting area immediately after the surgery is completed. Because the surgeon will inform your family of how you are doing, it is important that your family remain in the waiting area.
If your family needs to leave the waiting area, they should notify either the host/hostess or a nurse in the area, so that they can be located.
Please remember that the time of surgery is approximate. Each case is unique and may take more, or less, time than you were told. Please do not worry if it seems that surgery is taking longer than you think it should. The staff will let you know if there is a delay and will try to keep you as well-informed as possible.
