Trauma Center's 'Level I' Status Reaffirmed
6/9/2008

The highest-quality medical care for severe injury is available at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital's Level I Trauma Center, a recent survey by the State of Arizona and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) has revealed.

North Mountain Hospital’s Level I Trauma Center successfully completed an on-site inspection conducted by representatives of ACS and the Arizona Emergency Medical Services & Trauma System.

"The surveyors stated that our team is very well organized for trauma care," said North Mountain CEO Bruce Pearson. "They found zero program deficiencies!"

Level I status demonstrates that an institution's medical services for the most severely injured patients meet new formal state requirements, which go into effect at the end of this year.

Successful completion of the survey is now required of all trauma centers in Arizona in order to continue to be designated "Level I."

More About Arizona’s Trauma System

To be designated a trauma center in Arizona, health care institutions must agree to meet strict standards and undergo site visits. Level I designation means that a center has the resources, capabilities and processes to provide complete care for every aspect of severe injury.

Arizona has seven Level I-designated trauma centers. Five Level I centers are located in Greater Phoenix.

As the northernmost Level I center in Phoenix, John C. Lincoln North Mountain cares for trauma patients from cities and towns such as Kingman, Prescott and Sedona. It has received cases from as far as New Mexico, Colorado, Utah and California.

More information on trauma services in Arizona can be found on website of the Arizona Department of Health Services.
