9/15/2008

Many of you have known Sally Moore in her position as director of resource development for the Desert Mission Programs. Over the summer, Sally resigned her position. Desert Mission thanks Sally for her eight years of dedication and support she provided to all of the Desert Mission Programs. We will miss her.

Cathie Hanna, Desert Mission's
new manager of resource development

Cathie Hanna, an 11-year employee at Lincoln Learning Center, has accepted the position of the manager of resource development. She brings a wealth of knowledge to the position. We all look forward to her creativity and enthusiasm. Please join us in welcoming her in this new role.

To introduce Cathie, we’d like to share an essay about "Mrs. Hanna" written by Tori Bentley, a former Lincoln Learning Center student. Now a young woman, Tori recently sent the essay along with a letter to Cindy Hallman to tell her "the way Mrs. Cathie Hanna has greatly impacted my life. … I hope that you like it and will see how deeply I admire her!"

Tori Bentley's Essay

Generosity: The trait of being willing to give your money and time. This is the general meaning of generosity, but there is much more to it. It is where others are kind, humble, giving, patient, thoughtful, and insightful. They are willing to take the time to listen to you, care for you, help you in a time of need, or be a friend through rough times.

The person in my life that exhibits these qualities all the time is the day care coordinator at Lincoln Learning Center, Cathie Hanna. Every time others visit she is always pleasant, chatty, knowledgeable, humble, and much more. She has a big heart, always willing to give, not expecting anything in return. And when she does, she is extremely grateful. Despite the stress of everyday life and work, she is always chipper and genuine, never angry, sarcastic, or upset. If anything, she does get a bit worried at times for others. She is also a role model to most; not only does she display generosity but also leadership, faith, trust, and perseverance.

Some of the examples of her generosity would be innumerable. She has done so much for everyone, her friends, family, probably strangers. On numerous occasions she has made employees’ and customers’ days more fun on a dull day of work. She has also given friends gifts and cards on special occasions, invited people to her church, her wedding and she gave students the opportunity to enter an art contest for the annual Scottsdale Arabian horse show. She has also let employees come to her office and chat for long periods of time, as well as let others visit her house for she is hospitable.

She truly is admirable—her courage, generosity, love, courteousness, patience, and supportiveness. She has many of the qualities that were listed and generosity was only one of them. Her character is outstanding, her willingness to give is amazing. She is also very artistic, donating various banners, cards etc. to the Daycare. She also inspires others to pursue their passions in life, giving them advice, and the proper tools to continue on.

Other examples of her generosity would be her willingness to attend or participate in the activities of her friends. She has joined countless others in games, activities, events, etc. to show her support and join in on the fun. She also helped put together a play for the elderly who stay in another section of Lincoln Learning Center, as well as for the younger children and teachers. Cathie also attends the book events that happen after hours for less fortunate children, and families that have kids attend LLC. She reads to them and entertains them while special guests or activities are prepared.

She is also a very happy and content person; she is always happy to be where she is bringing a contagious smile. She never boasts or brags, and she isn’t vengeful or angry. She deserves the very best of everything, for she has given everything to everyone; there are not enough thank yous or hugs in the world that could repay her for her deeds.

Altogether Mrs. Cathie Hanna is an extremely generous person, but she is also much more. She portrays all of the chivalrous qualities, and she displays them everyday to her friends, family, colleagues, guests, bosses, and everyone else. Her heart is pure, and true, as well as loving, nurturing, and of course generous.
