Perioperative Services
at North Mountain Hospital
Overview
The Perioperative Services department at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital encompasses Inpatient Surgery (including the hospital’s Level I Trauma Center), Outpatient Surgery, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, Centralized Scheduling and Surgical Systems Support.
Surgical Volume
Inpatient Surgery handles approximately 550 surgeries per month and Outpatient performs approximately 325 surgeries per month.
Unit Size
Inpatient Surgery is home to six operating room suites, two heart rooms, one cysto room and two trauma suites located in the Trauma Center. Outpatient Surgery has four operating room suites.
Scheduling & Shifts
Schedules in both departments are flexible. Self-scheduling is done with consideration for specialty programs. Ten- and eight-hour shifts are available. Schedules are posted four weeks in advance. RNs in Inpatient Surgery take scheduled on-call shifts.
Elective surgery is scheduled Monday through Friday during the day; emergency surgeries are handled 24 hours a day.
Special Procedures
Perioperative Services at North Mountain handles a variety of surgical procedures, including, but not limited to, orthopedics, total joint, general, gynecology, vascular, open heart, ENT, oral surgery, neurosurgery, craniotomies, urology, thoracic, plastics, ophthalmology, trauma and Endo Luminal Graft procedures.
