2008 Lincoln Guild Invitational Breaks Records
The 22nd annual Lincoln Guild Invitational raised $220,000 for John C. Lincoln's Desert Mission programs, including the Food Bank, Children's Dental Clinic and Community Health Center. That's almost $30,000 more than in 2007.
The September 10, 2008 event at Camelback Golf Club was chaired by James Fishman, MD and attracted 212
golfers and 80 generous sponsors including major event sponsors Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona and Ensemble Real Estate Services.
Elaine Hugunin, Chief Executive Officer of the John C. Lincoln Health Foundation, said the funds raised will be used to support Desert Mission's programs for children and families. "Children's Dental Clinic, Food Bank, Marley House, Lincoln Learning Center and Community Health Center all provide services to help children stay healthy and learn," she said. "Our golfers and sponsors have a great day of golf and fun-they enjoy it all the more because they know that children and families benefit."
Desert Mission has been serving families for more than 80 years. In 2007, Desert Mission provided a comprehensive safety net of integrated social services to more than 12,000 families in 71 ZIP codes. Forty-six percent of those served were children.
"Kids who need help-whether they need dental care, food, medical care or help in school-they touch people's hearts. Regardless of our own struggles with jobs and mortgages and paying our bills, when little ones need help we dig deep. And that's the way it should be," said Dr. Fishman.
