"Our accreditation as a Chest Pain Center is just one more example of our commitment to medical excellence. If I needed care, this is where I’d want to be treated."

    Emergency Medicine

One of the fastest-growing hospitals in Phoenix, John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital's 35-bed emergency department cares for 60,000 patients each year. Patients who visit this newly renovated facility benefit from design features and technologies that ensure a more comfortable and convenient stay.

An Accredited Chest Pain Center

In October 2007, Deer Valley Hospital became an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention, also known as angioplasty) by the international Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC). This is the highest national accreditation possible for emergency cardiac care.

Private Rooms, Enhanced Healing Capability

When our new emergency unit opened in 2004, John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital became the only hospital in the Valley to offer all-private rooms throughout the facility. In our view, enhanced privacy helps foster a healing environment.

Faster Access to Care

Thanks to wirelessly connected computers that enable bedside registration, patients receive quicker treatment. Patients can access the treatment area before dealing with paperwork; we can roll the registration computer right to them. Our emergency team continuously investigates new ways to speed the delivery of quality emergency care to our patients.

High-Tech Communication

All staff members carry hands-free Vocera communicator badges, a breakthrough technological tool that affords instant communication between nurses, physicians and other staff. Now, nurses can simply Vocera a physician and get an immediate response, rather than play "phone tag." Straight out of Star Trek, this technology frees our nurses to focus their attention on our emergency patients.

Additional Upgrades

Our Deer Valley hospital acquired a 16-slice Toshiba Aquilon computed tomography (CT) scanner, which is situated just steps away from the emergency department. Yielding high-quality digital images, the CT scanner is part of our PACS system which enables us to transfer images electronically throughout the Deer Valley hospital and to other facilities as needed. Our CT scanner is a critical piece of equipment for diagnosing potentially life-threatening injuries and treating the most severe cases, when every second counts.

And, the new emergency department is also home to a satellite lab, which enables us to perform immediate on-site testing for the most severely injured and ill patients.

Community Education and Outreach

We serve our community through health awareness programs. For example, we hold "community heart check" events in conjunction with a local fire department.

Many our patients with heart attack symptoms arrive by private vehicle — unnecessarily extending the time elapsed between the onset of an illness or injury to treatment by a medical professional. Our heart check events educate our community on how to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack and the importance of calling 9-1-1 to reduce the time required to receive treatment.
