Highlights of Our Center
- State-of-the-art screening, diagnostic and interventional breast imaging technologies and services in one location. This includes digital mammography (screening and diagnostic mammograms); breast ultrasound; ultrasound- or stereotactic-guided breast biopsies; and breast MRI.
- A staff that includes two well-respected breast imaging radiologists, who are dedicated to the center. Other members of our staff have specialized certifications and advanced experience in breast care.
- A breast health patient case review panel that will review and make multidisciplinary and educational review recommendations for patients diagnosed with breast cancer and high-risk concerns.
- A focus on patient support and education; each case is managed by a patient care coordinator.
- An on-site wig- and prosthesis-fitting room.
- A state-of-the-art bone densitometry unit.
- Strong community relationships—with organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, The Wellness Community and Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen)—that open doors for financial assistance for patients, support for the mind, body and spirit, and participation in clinical trials.
The bottom line: Our patients spend less time waiting for appointments, and they have access to a level of medical expertise and care that’s tough to match.
Less Time Waiting, Less Time Worrying
A key part of our patient care philosophy revolves around wait times. Less time waiting for appointments means less time worrying.
We’ll not only get you in for your mammogram quickly, but we’ll also perform your biopsy—and help you see your surgeon, if necessary—as quickly as possible.
- For mammography, we’ll see our patients within one week of calling for an appointment.
- If a patient is already experiencing a problem with her breast, we’ll offer mammography within 72 hours.
- Diagnostic exam results are provided to the patient at the time of service.
- If a biopsy is needed, we’ll perform the biopsy within 24 to 48 hours of scheduling the appointment.
- Biopsy test results are typically back in 24 hours.
- If surgery is required, our patients will see a breast surgeon within five working days.
We’re working with, and referring to, medical professionals who are willing to meet our high standards of care. Through this network of physicians, women will receive treatment faster through referrals.
Going Beyond the Diagnosis
In our eyes, each patient is more than a chart, whether she visits us for an annual screening mammogram or additional diagnostic or interventional procedures.
If additional care is needed, our patient care coordinator will guide you through the entire process. The patient care coordinator will help you navigate your care, by compiling medical records on your behalf, helping with physician appointments and communicating with referring physicians to coordinate the next steps in your treatment plan.
Instead of carrying films around from appointment to appointment, patients will get a notebook that includes:
- The diagnosis and films on a compact disk.
- Support group information.
- Valuable Internet sites for research.
- Sets of questions to ask specialists, to help the patient prepare for upcoming physician appointments.
We also have a beautiful multimedia educational library and conference room. This conference room has DVDs on topics such as inflammatory breast cancer and chemotherapy. Our library offers many free reference materials and brochures, and we’ll also have books that patients can check out.
