Rhonda Forsyth

Rhonda ForsythRhonda Forsyth is a Valley business leader with more than 20 years of experience in health care administration. She has served a variety of business, arts and community organizations including the Better Business Bureau, the Phoenix Boys Choir and the American Cancer Society.

Ms. Forsyth became president and chief executive officer of John C. Lincoln Health Network in April 2009. For one year prior, she served as executive vice president of the Network, and also served as interim CEO of Deer Valley Hospital. Until spring 2008, Ms. Forsyth held direct responsibility for the strategic direction and daily operations of John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital.

Under her leadership, North Mountain Hospital achieved a number of accomplishments, including being:

  • Named the first area hospital to achieve Magnet status by the American Nurses Association, an honor accorded only the top 3 percent of the nation's hospitals for excellence in nursing care.
  • Selected a Thomson Top 100 Hospital and earned recognition for its business ethics from the Better Business Bureau of Central and Northern Arizona.
  • Singled out as a Great Place to Work in Arizona in a Fortune magazine ranking of the Top 100 Places to Work in the United States.
  • Recognized for excellent patient care by US News and World Report.
  • Named one of the nation's top hospitals in the area of organ donation.

Ms. Forsyth has led the team at the North Mountain hospital through a time of growth and expansion. Construction of a new Emergency and Level I Trauma Center and the expansion and addition of new operating rooms are recent projects at John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital.

Ms. Forsyth earned a Master of Science in business administration from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Arts from Pitzer College. Ms. Forsyth came to John C. Lincoln Health Network in 1987 from Samaritan Health Services Inc., where she was director of Valley hospital projects.

Bruce Pearson, FACHE

Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer
John C. Lincoln Hospitals

Bruce PearsonBruce Pearson joined John C. Lincoln in 2008 as CEO of the organization’s 262-bed John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital and Level I Trauma Center. In January 2009, he also became CEO of the 203-bed John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital.

Mr. Pearson has extensive leadership experience, with executive skills in the areas of strategic growth and specialty differentiation, operational and clinical improvements, physician collaboration and recruitment, and planning and major facilities development.

Before joining John C. Lincoln Health Network, he had served Banner Health in various capacities, including most recently as CEO of Banner Desert Medical Center.

Mr. Pearson holds a master’s degree in health services administration from Arizona State University, and an MBA and a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. He has been active in East Valley communities, having served on the board of directors for Child Crisis Center, Mesa United Way and the East Valley Partnership. He is also a fellow, American College of Healthcare Executives. He serves as secretary/treasurer of the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association.

Colleen Scharneck, RNM

Vice President, Patient Care Services
John C. Lincoln Deer Valley Hospital

Colleen ScharneckColleen Scharneck has been responsible for all clinical operations in the hospital since it was acquired by the John C. Lincoln Health Network in 1997. She also held a variety of positions at the hospital in the 17 years before its sale to the John C. Lincoln organization.

Ms. Scharneck is a registered nurse who holds a Bachelor of Science in health administration, a Master of Science in health services administration and is certified in nursing administration. She is a nursing surveyor for the hospital accreditation program of the American Osteopathic Association and has served on the board of directors for the Arizona Organization of Nurse Executives.

Ms. Scharneck is active in the community, serving on the board of directors for the Deer Valley Education Foundation.

Sue Hanauer, RN

Vice President, Patient Care Services
John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital

Sue HanauerSue Hanauer provides leadership in all aspects of patient care; including pharmacy, respiratory, social services, wound care and nursing care. Under Ms. Hanauer’s leadership, the hospital achieved Magnet nursing status, the first in the Valley to achieve this prestigious designation. A Magnet designation places John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital within the top 3 percent of hospitals nationally, signifying that it has met the rigorous requirements of the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Ms. Hanauer is committed to excellence in patient care and has been instrumental in developing opportunities for continued nursing specialty education. As a result, 34 percent of John C. Lincoln North Mountain nurses hold specialty certifications.

Ms. Hanauer was critical to the development and implementation of a partnership between the John C. Lincoln Health Network and Paradise Valley Community College to develop an onsite college nursing program to establish long-term opportunities to help address the nursing shortage in the Valley.

Ms. Hanauer holds a Master of Science in nursing, and is an adjunct faculty member at Grand Canyon University. She joined John C. Lincoln in 2000, bringing with her 25 years of experience in nursing and nursing administration. She provides leadership within state and national nursing organizations and was one of only 18 people chosen in the state by the Arizona Healthcare and Hospital Association to attend a yearlong fellowship for future leaders. She is president of the Arizona Organization of Nurse Executives and one of eight national community members for the National Magnet Governing Council. Ms. Hanauer holds certification as a Nurse Executive Advanced-Board Certified.

In 2008, she was named by the Phoenix Business Journal as a Healthcare Hero for her leadership in the field of professional nursing.

Catherine Lindstrom, PhD, FACHE

Vice President, Clinical and Support Services
John C. Lincoln North Mountain Hospital

Cathy LindstromCathy Lindstrom is responsible for administrative oversight and management of trauma services, neurosciences, perioperative services, diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory, histology, environmental services, food services and nutrition at the hospital. She develops new business and leads physician recruitment in support of new services.

Dr. Lindstrom has more than 20 years of experience in organizational development, clinical and psychological oversight, project management and human resources management, most of it within health care. She is widely published in the areas of organizational psychology, and management and psychological issues unique to health care environments. She has been on faculty at Old Dominion University, George Washington University, University of Phoenix and Arizona State University.

Dr. Lindstrom holds a PhD in industrial/organizational psychology, a Master of Science in psychology, and a Bachelor of Science in nursing. She joined John C. Lincoln Health Network in 1990 after serving as corporate director, Human Resource Systems, at Samaritan Health Services.
